So this Mother's Day weekend was a busy one for our small town. Feather Fiesta Days Parade, the car show, THE PROM, and I originally had plans to go for a 13 mile hike to Bullards Bar with my cousin "hikes with braids". I have now dubbed her this. She doesn't know, it's a surprise. Lol. But, we had to change plans because I was having a fibro flare up brought on, I believe by a weeklong course of the diuretic Lasix. I was in pain. And having to cancel on her again made me feel horrible.
Last night I decided that I wanted to try out our new Copper Spur ultralight 3 man tent and my new The North Face furnace 20 sleeping bag. I set it up at midnight and blew up my sleeping pad. I left the rain fly off so I could see the stars and I climbed on in. The only thing I was bothered by was a pesky bird squawking that woke me up at the crack of dawn. I slept good though. My new bag worked nicely.
By Sunday morning I decided to try a short hike. I managed to make it ten miles which I was quite happy about. Suffering with debilitating pain on a regular basis sucks. And it sucks even more when it's bad enough to keep me in bed on ice or heat. I'm hoping I don't have a flare up like that ever again. Happy Mothers Day to me. I spent it alone on the trail.
